Wiki says 22 is the next step. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/22_nanometer

I see... thanks for the info!

I really do wish that some day, AMD can drag its ass back in the ring with Intel, and have the two companies trade blows and be neck at neck again... like in the good old P4 vs Athlon XP/Athlon64 days. Maybe this is the start of the long road to recovery for AMD. anyways, thanks to OP for a great read!biggrin.gif

We're at about 8-10% with Trinity, which is like i said many months ago and mentioned in this article, are extremely old Piledriver cores.. Significantly before BD release.

Vishera could very well bring ~15% IPC or more from BD. Coupled with improved clocks, bodes well for AMD.

Another interesting mention was as far as sockets go. I remember last year the leaks about PD being on FM2 which was probably correct at the time. AMD decided to milk AM3+ a little longer, and we should see Steamroller desktop on FM3. It's to early to predict anything but things will be changing drastically soon.

Piledriver will be on FM2 with Trinity and on AM3+ with Vishera. Steamroller should be on FM2 as well with Kaveri. Dont know of any CPUs after Vishera...

Simply put, FM2 will be used for a long time.

amd is starting to redeem itself. it is still very far behind intel in terms of pure CPU performance. however since most consumers will not notice the difference, they should be able to survive. it's just that they won't ever get the juice of the high-margin high-end market.
