I have read about burning iso images before i just didnt know what it was or how to do it, but always wanted to try it so i guess nows my chance lol. Thanks for all the help guys. I'll read up on it some more and then give it a shot later tonight. Id like to put it on my 16gb PNY flash drive if the files are small enough to fit.

Download the iso > right click > burn disc image > burn...if you use a DVD: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Burn-a-CD-or-DVD-from-an-ISO-file

For USB just use the Windows tool or diskpart:

I have 1 more question. I have been using a OLD OCZ VERTEX 30gb ssd for a boot drive for awhile now and i just bought a new OCZ Vertex 4 64gb to replace my old 30gb ssd. Would it be easier to do a fresh install of windows or just transfer everything on my 30gb to my new Vertex 4?

No problemo! Yeah that flash drive of yours has plenty of space to for a bootable ISO. Just download the ISO, download the Microsoft Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool, run the tool, and follow the instructions thumb.gif

you can clone the 30GB drive to the new V4 you got then expand the partition. No need to reinstall.

You can download Windows 7 from their website. They also have a USB/DVD Download Tool to help you go from dvd to usb flash drive.
I did this when troubleshooting my computer, but found out I had a dead SSD.

I wanted to give an option for a website to download Windows 7 versions in case anyone is having problems with Digital River. Their website is shut down at this writing. I had bought a license key at a place called Software Plaza Marketplace. They sent an email with a link to Digital River which gave me a bogus download. Try this website instead:

http://getintopc.com/softwares/operating-systems/windows-7-professional-free-download-iso-32-bit-64-bit/

This is an .iso file. I used ImgBurn to burn to DVD-R media. If you go this route you may have to call Microsoft to activate Windows if it doesn't activate while you are online. It isn't a big deal. I've done it many times. Just follow the auto prompts. They ask you if your version has been used before. Make sure to say no. It's just a robot voice doing a robot job. No big thang.
