Corsair vengeance 4x4gb low profile 1600mhz

Just wondering if anybody else has RAM, or used it in the past?

It's rated at 1600mhz, however my system is defaulting to 1333mhz, and won't boot up when I change the dram multiplier in BIOS.

The guy at the store I purchased from asked what I was kind of CPU I was running (AMD/Intel), and when I said AMD (fx8120) he said that a lot of AMD boards were defualting to 1333mhz, but simply changing the multiplier should fix the issues.

I have lastest bios version - but my system will not boot up (overclock error during boot sequence) when I change the dram multiplier to 8.00 (1600mhz). I have a gigabyte 970A-D3 motherboard, which is supposed to be compatible up to 2000mhz.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this ram, or has solved a similar issue. If I can't figure this out I am going to return it under warranty -- I have a few more days left.

go into the bios and turn on xmp.

thanks for the quick reply!

I can't find the XMP setting anywhere in BIOS. Is there something else that gigabyte might call this on AMD boards?

I will try to google, but I thought XMP was an intel feature? Or am I way wrong there?

AMD doesnt use xmp. Depending one the board. There will be a "load profile setting" I had a corsair 4x4gb 1600mhz kit and it only had 3 choices.. Auto, standard, profile 1.

If you are going to run it at 1600mhz like it is rated at, chose profile one. Manually set timings and voltage to specifications. Also, your bios should tell you what timings to set it at based on what speed you set your RAM to.
