When you're paying $700+ per monitor(in my case $1200 after duty and shipping from the States), it would be madness if you had to accept a single dead pixel or slightly off colour on a premium monitor.
Some, often overlook things like that on expensive items.

Debatable. Better quality in theory, too bad the AG destroys that quality.

I would say yes to the Catleaps but in this case, no. I would sell the U2711 for a good price and then buy two Catleaps with that money. tongue.gif Just pre-calibrate it if you have any calibration equipment and kick up the price.

Not with that AG it's not. I'll happily stare at a catleap all day than go back to looking at the ghastly appearance of the U27 AG.

Subjective opinion is subjective.

Technically superior panel on ultrasharp is technically superior.

You may prefer it. It may suit your needs just fine. It's still not as good of a panel. Consider yourself lucky that you don't really care for the finer details and that glare isn't a deal-breaker for your living/working situation, and move on with your life. I'm sure users here can decide if better panel+AG is worth the extra $$$ for their use. No reason to crap all over the thread.

lol, finer details....the u2711 is a wide gamut display, any one who cares about the finer details would never buy a wide gamut display caked in anti-glare coating which adds a permanent film grain effect to everything.

Just because the panel grading is higher, that doesn't mean one will get a good one. The U2711 used to commonly come with each side of the screen tinted green & pink. and can come with back-light bleeding. The only thing superior is a letter grade on a piece of paper. These Korean displays have better contrast /blacks and are much more suitable for regular use since they don't have an extended gamut=no over saturation issues.
