So im use a razer deathadder that a friend got 2 of and gave me one, well, his broke and he needs it back, so im looking to buy one.

1. What's your grip style? fingertip for most of the time, palm when i play fps.

2. What's your sensitivity? I use 3500 dpi on the deathadder

3. What's your maximum budget? $130

4. Do you want additional buttons? It would be nice, as i play some mmo's.

5. What games do you play? Diablo 3, League of Legends, Battlefield 3, Call of Duty, and Minecraft. Looking for more.

6. Do you mind about prediction? No

7. Other relevant information: Im not too big on mouses, seeing as i dont know what to look for. I dont want to spend a lot of money on something that wouldnt make much of a difference.

I would suggest the G400.

If you like the shape, it is a very good mouse. Extremely accurate, and about the right size. (IMO) This would be more of a claw style grip mouse.

You could also go for something like a Zowie EC1 eVo. It's shaped much like the death adder, and is also very accurate. This is more of a palm grip style mouse. (I use the EC2, which is a bit smaller then the EC1)

Both of which are good bang for the bucks.

Thanks. Although, if i were to go with the Zowie, i would just get another Deathadder to be honest, and the G400 looks strange to me, like something i couldnt get use to. I like the open...ness of the deathadder and Zowie if you understand what i mean.

I primarily play FPS games, so my experience is in that direction. I personally have used many "gaming mice" over the years with varied results. Here are the ones I can think of with a short description:

Microsoft Sidewinder X3 - nice size, ambidextrous, good button placement. Mouse1 stopped registering after 6 months.

Microsoft Sidewinder - looks like the batmobile, good tracking, fits my hand well (bc it's larger). I found it to have jittery tracking.

Microsoft Sidewinder x8 - wireless, works on ANY surface (even glass), fits hand well. I found it to have better tracking then the Sidewinder or x3, but still lacked in comparison.

Steelseries Xai - Great mouse, ambidextrous, great tracking, perfect button placement. After about 8 months everything broke. I really loved this mouse but it's build quality left me scared to go back to it.

Logitech MX518 (both old and new feet styles) - IMO one of the best mice ever. It was weird moving from the Xai's shape to the MX518, but once I got used to it I absolutely fell in love. The sensor is my favorite of all the mice I've tested.

Logitech G400 (my current mouse) - Exactly like the MX518 but the surface of the mouse is much easier to grasp and it doesn't make my hand sweat like the smooth surface of the MX518.

IMO, it's all about preference. My hand conforms well to the MX518/G400. Find what fits best. I have used a Deathadder before and it's large size is a big factor. So, I would recommend a larger mouse: MX518/G400 or the Zowie series of mice.

CM Storm Spawn if you like fingertip/claw grip.

Otherwise you could get another Deathadder or a G400.

They are the 3 mainstream mouses that I know that offer nearly flawless tracking.

EDIT : The R.A.T. 5, while being a good mouse, have a poor sensor. If you play at 3500 DPI you probably wont notice it. I used to have one but had to resell it because the ergonomic wasnt doing it for me. But feature-wise it's really great.

I have a zowie am/g400 at home and a storm spawn at work. My favorite being the zowie. Tracks flawlessly. Nice matte rubber finish and is a bit narrow making it perfect for my claw style when playing a Fps. The g400 has a fantastic sensor and does exactly what I tell it to. More comfortable for me palm gripping for surfing the web and such. The spawn is a bit of a cross between the two for me. I like the pinky rest in particular on it but I feel its lacking a tad in terms of a solid feel in comparison to the other two.

I'll second the G400, You could get one for at least $30. You get 3 dpi buttons, 2 side buttons, 10m click LMB/RMB, a thin cord, and a notchy scroll wheel. Personally, I love it, it sort of supports my hand when I claw grip, so I could use it for hours without it hurting my hand.

afaik the sensor of the g400 works best up to 800 dpi and gets worse above that dpi setting.
Then the only other choices is the Death Adder or maybe the CM Spawn

I really like the Storm Spawn but it get's a bit jittery at 3500 dpi. Incredibly smooth at 1800 dpi. The feet glide oh so smooth. That's why I hate my G400. Trying to move the G400 across any surface is like trying to move 80 grit sandpaper across concrete.

Tt eSPORTS THERON might be another option.

I know this might be a wild idea, so please sit down before you read further

Ready?, this might blow your mind, so i need to be sure you read it, please sit down..

Ok.. here goes

You know, you could always lower your dpi, and move that windows slider away from 1/11 to 6/11 so that you wont lose any speed or accuracy, actually, youd prolly gain some accuracy

I've switched from high DPI mice to low DPI mice and vice-versa. You need to hike up the in-game sensitivity. If you're getting a new mouse you have to adjust to things such as physical shape, how the feet slide and the sensor; not to mention how much just changing your mousepad/surface will affect your experience.

This confuses me. If you're leaving your mouse on 1/11 you're automatically setting yourself up for failure - this creates a negative acceleration. You should ALWAYS leave your windows mouse sensitivity slider at 6/11 and ALWAYS turn "Enhance pointer precision" off.

From my experience the best results come from finding the most stable DPI, leaving windows slider at 6/11, turning enhance pointer precision off and only adjusting in-game sensitivity.

He was being sarcastic. My only beef with the DA is that if you want to on the fly dpi switching you have to give up the side buttons (I use them for weapon swapping)

Successful troll is successful...

Anyways, how does anyone use on the fly DPI? I disable those buttons b/c I find the feature incredibly annoying. I just can't figure out how I could use it.

not really, you both read it wrong :]

I said change it FROM 1/11 to 6/11, and lower the dpi to match the speed, Im going to assume the only reason op uses 3500 dpi is because he thinks the mouse is more accurate there, even if he has to lower his windows sens to make it usable, because, 3500dpi with 6/11 win sens is just.. insanely fast

On my logitech I use the forward side button to swap to the "back up weapon", the back side button swaps back to the main. The button just above the scroll wheel I set to DPI Shift. What this dose is allow me to program a "shift" DPI. I run my mouse at 1800 DPI and my shift DPI is at 900. When sniping, or going for longer range than normal targets I just have to hold down that button and the DPI shift's to 900, let off the button and zip its instantly back at 1800 for fast paced close quarter/mid range. That is the only way to implement DPI adjustment's on a mouse. The other common method is a waste of time, unless your only shifting your DPI from program to program and that would suck. Not all mice have the DPI shift feature, some do though.

I thought it was sarcasm because of this ^. But that is pretty much it, 6/11 is the only setting that maximizes precision, anything else worsens it.

3500 dpi @ 6/11 is NOT insanely fast. It's a touch snappier than what I use in normal browsing but in game it feels fairly slow. I typically have to increase in game sensitivity quite a bit @ 3500 dpi.

egh? @3500 dpi on a 1900x1200 screen I have to move my mouse approx 4.5 inches to go from one side of the screen to the other... that is not fast at all. Fast would be closer to 2 inches. From a gaming perspective.
