If you go laser, go for a DeathAdder. For optical, go G400.

This ^ but getting really more picky about a mouse than I care to. Other differences are more DPI in the G500 and the ability to adjust the weight of the G500 to your liking. G500 also has a braided cable so it lasts longer and is more resistant to fraying. G500 has a couple more programable buttons. I like mine.

Wait.. It isn't? In that case g400 XD since you can get one for half the price of the DA.

Does that mean there are NO laser mice that don't have acceleration?

Being an owner of both the G400 and G500 I can say that the G400 win's hands down. G500 is heavy even when all the weights are removed, the Switch's used for the main click's are known to fail and the biggist flaw in the G500 is the sensor placement. The laser sensor on the G500 is moved forward, where as all the best tracking mice have the sensor located in the center of the mouse. This take's adjusting too as it throw's some of the angles off when manipulating the mouse. On top of poor placement its just a bad sensor. Lastly the G500 has more DPI but also pixel skip's horribly. I have a G500 sitting on a shelf collecting dust lol. Horrible mouse from a gaming perspective.

I like the Corsair M90, Avago ADNS-A9500 sensor.
http://www.overclock.net/t/854100/mouse-reference-thread

Has alot of extra buttons but must say they arent al easy to reach, only some.

Its a very heavy mouse wich i like.

Good for palm grip. [fingetip would work with big hands to, i got small hands]

Easy software and macro's.

Before this mouse i have had the CM storm Spawn, MX518, a Sentinel advanced and a Kinzu and this corsair is by far the best one of them.
