[AndroidCommunity] Google releases Android 4.1 Jelly Bean source code

Great news hit the Android airwaves last night when Google’s own Jean-Baptiste Queru announced that they were adding Android 4.1 Jelly Bean source to AOSP. Google’s finally released the source code, which means they are feeling good about its current state, are ready to let the world enjoy it, and we can expect those Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7 tablets to start shipping soon.

Who cares? Not even 15% of the phones out there even got ICS and they're already dropping Jelly Bean? So 5% of the phones out there can run it? I bought a brand new phone from samsung (the charge) because I assumed it'd been supported. It's not even getting ICS now.

Google needs to get their act together on their manufacturers not keeping their phones updated. I've been a die hard Android fan from from the start but once this Charge dies, which will probably be from me smashing it, I won't be getting another one, I've had it with buying a brand new phone only for the manufacture to spit on it.

Would you buy a graphics card without researching its capabilities and how it is supported? No? Then why would you do that with a phone? You only have a right to complain if Samsung told you it'd get ICS.

You're comparing apples to kiwis here. If I buy a video card I'm looking at specs when researching, such I did with the phone. Both have good hardware, I bought it. My video card gets updates monthly. Companies don't simply announce what devices are getting an update until it's about to be released so you have almost no idea what is getting what.

Google isn't the reason that your phones aren't getting ICS..the manufacturers and the carriers are. If you want OS updates you need to buy a Nexus line phone and anyone who does any research knows that. I think that is what the poster above me was getting at.

If you wanted ICS, then you should have bought a phone with ICS on it. You said you researched the phone, yet you bought a phone with little to no support. A phone that will probably never see ICS.

As for Jelly Bean the HTC One X, Galaxy S3, and Nexus are the only phones I see getting an OTA Jelly Bean update for sure.
