Recommend me a mechanical keyboard

Thread Starter
Hello everyone,

What would be an ideal mechanical keyboard for word processing/typing and for occasional gaming?

I do prefer the clicky sound. I've read the mechanical keyboard guide and it seems that Cherry MX Brown is a good option?

My budged is up to $140 out the door.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah, good idea... Sorry about that guys. I just started looking through the pages and I'm already familiarizing myself with the keyboards.

I'll keep looking through the threads. smile.gif

I'm going with a Filco Majestouch-2 with Cherry MX Browns, great quality and very highly recommended.

I don't mind raising the budget a bit, but is this one clickly?

I've read the Cherry MX blues are clicky?
Blues are clicky, Browns have a 'bump' and Reds/ Blacks are linear.

Here are a few suggestions :

Das Keyboard -http://www.amazon.com/Das-Keyboard-Model-Professional-Mechanical/dp/B003M567V6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1341979028&sr=8-1&keywords=das+keyboard

Leopold - http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=leopold,fullsize&pid=fc500rcab

Filco - http://www.amazon.com/Filco-Majestouch-2-Keyboard-FKBN104MC-EB2/dp/B004VKYHP4

The blue switch is the only mechanical switch that does make a clicky noise that doesnt come from bottoming out.

They are all excellent, A++ quality keyboard. Out of the 3, the Filco is probably the best but it's also the most expensive.

EDIT : Wrong link for the das x)

Thanks for your response, splinterize. I think I'm going to raise the budget and go with Filco.

I don't want to comprimise on the quality just to get a mechanical cherry mx blue switches.

Thanks everyone for your responses. It's greatly appreciated.
