MSI HD6970 GPU max

Hi all,

Firstly, please forgive me if I am re-echoing an earlier post, I have had a look through past forum posts before writing, but may well have missed something.

I have had the Msi Twin Frozr HD6970 for a few months now, runs great for me, but have recently noticed an issue (?) which I have been unaware of before - in most (not all) games, the GPU is running at 99% constantly (noticeably BF3, BulletStorm, Spec Ops - The Line), with temps remaining at around 75 - 79 degrees max. Is this normal/OK for this card? I thought it may have been my overclocking, so I have tried resetting in afterburner but still does same thing.

I have included as much info as I can below:

Core i5 (not OC) with 8gig RAM and win7 x64

GPU Settings:

out of the box 1.174v, Core 880mhz, memory 1375mhz
OC settings 1.2v, Core 950mhz, mem clock 1450

Would appreciate any comments

Thanks in advance guys

Steve

You're golden. You want your gpu fully utilized when gaming. I'm sure you could bring temps down a bit manually setting your fanspeed to 70% or so, but you're completely safe where you are. biggrin.gif Your voltage seems a bit high for that core clock. Have you tried to maintain stability with a bit less voltage ?

Edit. Scratch that, I'm a Derp. Your voltage is fine.

set fanspeed to atleast 50% all the time, but max it to the volume of your case, mine is 65% before i can really hear it over my other fans.

i also threw noctua thermal paste on my 6970 today and managed to get 1.25v's stable and sub 80 degrees in furmark.
