If it's a brand new drive then it's probably nothing to worry about... you could RMA it if you're really worried. The explanation seems fairly logical, so I'd probably only do it if it's an older drive that just started making that noise.

i got it from canada computers in store. i haven't done any testing yet as i am waiting for a few parts to arrive as of yet. i hope so but i still have 12 days for "easy" replacement by canada computers so i may do that. probably best if i get one that doesn't sound like that lol

Well, hopefully thats a good supplier that is selling proper equipment. If you pass that deadline, go through WD's RMA.
I have had 3 WD 1tb drives fail on me, and they have always been helpful and quick to get me a replacement.
The third time they even sent me a 2tb for no extra charge.
Even though their drives can be finicky, their customer service is great imo.
