Render Settings

Thread Starter
not sure if this is the write area but here it goes:

okay I have a 2 hour long AE project that needs rendering. Currently the settings are at 1920X1080 and this whole project needs to fit on a dvd (roughly 3.5gigs of space, the other 1.2gigs is already used up in the project)

I have done multiple setting and they all end up the same, either:
A: the data rate become so low that its no point even making the dvd or (anything below 8000kbps turns out ****ty)
B: the res is pretty reasonable but the file is to large (around 5 gigs)

Any solutions to my hot mess?!?!

thanks in advance!!!!

Note:using after efects as main editor and using media encoder as main converter and using Encore as dvd maker

Honestly, at 1080p, for good quality, from TV shows and the like I have converted off Blu-Ray personally, you are going to need AT LEAST 4GB per hour for a good quality transcode. In fact, some 45 minute TV shows which I have ripped from blu-ray are over 4GB each just to maintain quality. You pretty much have to lower the res if you want to render it and stick it on the DVD.

Since you have already determined that anything below 8000kbps turns it to mud; then we can mathematically determine the minimum size file that you can produce.

(8000 * 60 * 60 *2)/8 = 7,200,000 KB = 6.87 GB. So in order for you to fit it into that space you are going to have to drop it down to 4000kbps, which would just be unwatchable.

Your other option would be to get a Dual Layer DVD, although these can be quite expensive.
