All this midrange stuff is kinda silly though because the 7970 and 680 are both the highest performing GPU's on the planet right now which makes them high end by default.

It was originally designed for the lower-high-end range (GTX 560Tis were never mid-range until now, just lower high-end. GTX 550 is mid-range) but ended up being fast enough to be the fastest flagship.

As far as the game boxes you put up (put them in spoilers please):
Crysis 2: AMD/NV-within margin of error
Deus Ex: AMD
Dirt 3: AMD
Metro: AMD
Batman: NV
BF3: AMD/NV- within margin of error
This may be true but we have had only 1 WHQL release (4 all together) and each has improved performance greatly, as our drivers mature they will only get much better.
