Two 670s and 3 Monitors?!

I'm doing a massive upgrade on my system and I'm getting two of these 670s http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814130787 and 3 asus monitors. I want to know how games will run on it. Skyrim, BF3, Diablo III, but most importantly Borderlands 2 (so excited). So how will it run, I can only find benchmarks for one 670. Thanks

I have run both Skyrim and BF3 on triple monitors with SLI MSI 580 GTX Lightning extremes and have had everything turned up completely and never noticed an issue. Although one downside I learned quickly is how age seems to go hand in hand with motion sickness in my case. I used to be able to play dual screens in years past, even some fast paced FPS and never had an issue, now I can't due to feeling sick soon after. On Skyrim it's the distorted side wing views that are a killer on the triple screens...

But back to the question, yea you should have no trouble with those cards..

3x1080p the two 2gb cards in SLI will handle maxing out MOST games very well. There's a few that are such resource and memory hogs though where you may have to limit your AA settings to like 2x or maybe even 0x ... most such games though also offer FXAA which uses basically no extra vram, has minimal perf hit, and does anti-alias pretty damn nicely, so ... yeah.

Of the things on your list I suspect only BF3 and maybe Skyrim (if you mod it a lot) might require small AA sacrifices to fit in the 2GB memory space and run okay maxed out.

awesome, I'm fine with playing a game on high instead of ultra. Thanks a ton. thumb.gif

D3 will run great, however it won't run on 3 screens, it will just show up on the middle screen. Blizzard locks the aspect ratio to 16:9 or 16:10, similar to how it is in SC2.

Can somebody here using 2 GTX 670 2gb and 3 monitors please tell me just how to setup BF3 to run on 3 identical 27" monitors? I have tried everything and battlefield 3 locks up on loading a level. Connections are 3x dvi-hdmi (monitors are samsung syncmaster s27b550 60hz). I can get this setup to run normal windows functions perfectly, but for the life of me BF3 just will not work. I was able to get it to attempt to load in 5760x1080 once tonight, but it locked up again. Game runs fine on ultra settings at 1920x1080 on a single monitor. I am using the NVIDIA directions for the correct connection of all 3 monitors: 2 dvi-hdmi on primary card, 1 dvi-hdmi to secondary card. 2 other games that I play, Star Trek Online (5760x1080, max settings 50+FPS) and theHunter (same results) work fine.

Specs:
FX 8150 3.6Ghz oc to 4.2 cooled w/ Corsair H60 (idle @ 23c, load @ 40c)
2x EVGA GTX 670 2gb in SLI
80 gb Intel SSD (OS drive). WD 500gb HDD for storage
8gb Patriot Viper Extreme DDR3 @ 1866 mHz
ThermalTake True Power 850 watt

Very frustrating to have +$800 in video cards and not be able to play BF3 how I want. This is the first time I've used NVIDIA after years of ATI usage. The only other things I can think to try drop the SLI and try it on one 670 at a time to see if I have a bad card. Alternatively, I might just put my old 6970 back in to see if it works in Eyefinity.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

FLT try lowering all the settings (like try medium settings, use no AA, that kind of thing). The issue might be caused by exceeding the cards memory capacity ...crashing *shouldn't* happen, but there's been reports from numerous sources that this particular game does this. Games that use deferred rendering like BF3 require a very large amount of memory space for their multiple frame buffers, esp. when you use MSAA with them, and if your memory usage is so large that the framebuffer itself has to spill into system ram ... it may not be happy about it.

Obviously you'll likely be able go up from there in terms of IQ, but just to eliminate it as a variable, the goal is to minimize the memory footprint.

My guess is that ultimately you'll find you can run it on Ultra at that resolution but with only FXAA, and you may have to sacrifice one or two other settings like motion blur and maybe SSAO. That's not entirely due to memory either, the game is a huge resource hog at surround resolutions.
