Specific Battlefield 3 Console Command

Does anybody know what this command actually does:

WorldRender.DxDeferredCsPathEnable 0

I've seen people reporting close to ~10 FPS increase when setting this command to 0, but does anybody actually know what it does?

Thanks!.

I didnt notice any fps increase with it, maybe for some older system its noticeable, you can try it urself anyway.
Commands what can rly help with perfomance is RenderDevice.Forcerenderaheadlimit set to 0 or 1 should bring smoother gameplay, turning off triple buffering if u dont use vsync (RenderDevice.TripleBufferingEnable 0) will save u ~100mb of vram, Thats what im using myself.

That's interesting. Do you have to do it in the game console every single time you run the game or is there a way to do this as a sort of INI?

Ok!, thanks!, If it sacrifices at least some IQ for performance, then I won't be using it.

When I came across the command, it was on a thread over at guru3d IRC that was comparing SS with that command set to 0 and then set to 1, and it gave that user around ~10 more FPS with no image quality loss (or so it seemed), but if it removes something that gives better IQ, then I won't be using it.

Thanks mate, +rep!

Actually no smile.gif, open notepad, put all the commands that you wanna use, save the file, rename it to "user.cfg" and place it over your main BF3 folder (Origin Games/ Battlefield 3).

You're done!

I can report that indeed I now have 10-15 FPS more and ~100 MB less VRAM use, having used:

RenderDevice.ForceRenderAheadLimit 0
RenderDevice.TripleBufferingEnable 0

Very good! biggrin.gif
Not that I needed more FPS but more is always good, hahaha. The VRAM usage reduction is welcome. I wasn't running into problems but having 1.25GB on each of my cards, it's nice to have that 0.10GB extra now, hahaha.

just tried this myself and it worked, definitely can tell the -100mb vram usage, my fps are pretty high on average anyway so that's hard to tell.

You should also disable visual themes and desktop composition when running BF3 for even more free VRAM smile.gif (right click on bf3.exe, select properties, and go over the compatibility tab).
