Apparently, Forbes' article is actually inaccurate according to some League of Legends players on Reddit.

I really dk anymore, least in the USA. Riot games is pushing LoL, it's already huge, MLG is working with Riot to push it...so competitive wise it'll be a grudge match for a while. Where before I thought dota2 would simply kill it.

EDIT: I have always wondered why people think there is only room for one title in a genre, DoTA 2 offers things that LoL doesn't, and the other way as well. The same thing for Diablo 3 and Torchlight 2 is said, and MW and BF.....

DOTA 2 isn't the exact same game. While differences are very slight, they are numerous. That and DOTA 2 is still in BETA... This is the equivalent of saying SWtOR is going to trash WoW. We all see how that ended up.

Think of it this way. Dota 2 is Dota 1 just better. The God Father of these type of games. WoW will probably get passed by another game until WoW 2 comes out.
