Really like mine as to Clocking and running Cool under low volatage.

Its a chip Lotto though.

Is there any difference in the actual hardware between the standard dual x fan edition and the OC? As far as I can tell from photos it just has an OC from the factory, the cooler looks the same.

I am not sure but think possibly better binned chips.

Here's an interesting screen you might look at.

See if you can see the difference.

That doesn't have anything to do with binning. Please stop perpetuating the myth of binned chips, they don't really exist. You will have to pray to the lottery gods with any card you buy.

And in regards to that pic, the Sapphire OC iirc just kept truer to the original reference design which had an extra vrm stage. The reference board that was released just omitted one vrm stage. Who knows why, maybe AMD decided the cards could get by with one less stage to the memory. And obviously it hasn't affected ref boards w/o the extra stage one bit.

Seem to be getting more votes for the Sapphire version atm, I guess its alos a plus that its a 2 slot cooler not a 3 slot.

From someone who has a 7970 DC II Top, I say get the Saphire. I was up in the air with these two cards and got the wrong card in my opinion. My biggest complaint (besides the card taking up 3 slots) is that the voltage is locked. You can only OC a video card so far without being able to change the vcore of the GPU. No fun at all...

As shown sapphire HD 7970 OC has an extra power phase ( 5 GPU + 2 mem) while other ref HD 7970 design have ( 5 GPU + 1 mem) and this helps it achieve very high memory overclocks.

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2012/04/10/sapphire_hd_7970_oc_edition_video_card_review/

Sapphire HD 7970 OC has achieved the highest memory overclock (7.44 Ghz ) of any HD 7970 card reviewed at hardocp. Go for the sapphire thumb.gif
