It is installed in my computer now. I like it a lot. Really makes my OCD go away.

alright, here it is. i haven't heard back from that guy......
it's an adapter for a SSD to a 5.25" bay. this way i don't have to have ANY additional expansion bays inside the case. i have the Corsair 550D and both of those expansion bays fully come out. now i have nothing between the fans and my gear.
i made this to be able to hold 2 SSD's. it's also set up for a toolless case design.
super simple to make, bend some tabs up, drill a few holes, done.
there is also another way.....take a busted ROM gut it out. and you should be able to install 4 SSD's (2 top, 2 bottom).
the reason why i think it's cool is becasue it frees up space or makes it easier to cool the case with fans. i also think it's a dud because there is already adapters for 2.5" and 3.5" HD's to fit in the 5.25" drive bay, but no one uses them. at least in all the pics of peoples rigs. 338338700700

there you go. you see it out side the case, installed, cover installed over it, and how my case really opens up with it. i couldn't seem to find an adapter i liked or at least had 1 positive review. i am trying to get a busted ROM so i can actually see how it would work with gutting it and installing 4 SSD's. i can't understand why everyone doesn't up their HD's in their 5.25" bays anyway. i would think that would be the norm. i would also expect case manufacturers would give a few adapters when you buy the case or redesign them with those adapters in mind.

if you like it....enjoy.

Just to let you know, they have a 4x SSD mounting bracket that fits inside two HDD cages. And then they also have a 3x5.25 bay to 4 HDDs bracket with a fan in front.

It's tough to think of innovating stuff in a technological world like this thumb.gif

Just saying, if you even THINK about patenting something, don't tell ANYONE about it until your patent is pending. Like PMing a random guy on the internet or showing a whole forum was not the best course of action.

I had a boss who had the right idea about patents: "they are only worth what you are willing to spend to defend them".

Nice to see you solved a need by making something yourself! Cheers! thumb.gif

oh i know. i didn't really plan on going through the process. i figured that there was something close enough that i couldn't get a patent anyway. like it was already mentioned, there were so many simular that i figured if i tried i would have got a call from some lawyer.
i am simply happy with this design that it works and it's simple. i am trying to get a busted rom so i can see if 4 SSD's would fit in there.

i dont think u could patent that , its way universal , but what u could had patented , is a mechanism to hold the SSD , or the mechanism to hold the SSD tray to the Optical bay . u can patent that smile.gif

imagine , loading SSDs on a PC like bullets in a clip , something like that lol

interesting thread , i would like to know , how to pitch ideas to big companies and stuff , anyone got experience with it ? patents?
