I think that they will, I have the asus transformer prime tf301 and use that thing way more than my laptop, but in a sense that tablet is a laptop with an android interface, but still I love the hell out of the thing.

Absolutely not. Whilst they have a little overlap they're totally different devices.

Completely different target audiences and uses.

Tablets are basically just the current generation of Palm Pilots on steroids. You still can't do work on them.

You can do light "work" with a tablet w/ keyboard (i.e. Asus Transformer or bluetooth). If your a student or just need it for home office kind of stuff it works, but not for real business. Maybe the Surface Pro will change this.

That's the biggest issue. Most people think the iPad can do heavy work loads while it can only do light work. biggrin.gif

Pretty much this.

Aside from light web surfing, playing lame games, reading, and such, I have little need for a tablet. A laptop on the other hand, has much more use in my line of work. Maybe when they add a real keyboard, full Windows compatibility, a real processor and graphics card, expandable storage and IO ports, then laptops will worry.

I have never seen the apeeal of the tablets and to me they are litlle more then novelty items. If you have a keyboard for the tablet then perhaps it can do some very light work like awnsering e-mails and so on. The Microsoft surface Pro migh be the first tablet that can be used for more things if it keyboard is good enough and it has some USB ports. So some overlap is to be expected but in the end actuall laptops with proper keyboards and a mouse is needed if you are actually going to do some work.
