There are many benchmarks you can find here on OCN. The 3570k at 4.5GHz is the same as the 2500k at 4.7/4.8Ghz. So clock by clock, the 3570k is faster.

Faster is a pretty open ended term. I would say that the user is going to be GPU bottlenecked in those games before hes CPU bottlenecked. If there are a ton of benchmarks in regards to gaming on OCN as you have stated, please link me to one showing the 3570K yields 10% more frames than the 2500K in BF3 or Skyrim. I'll wait.

"The question most people want to know, of course, is how much faster is it than the Core i5-2500K? The answer is a noticeable but not jaw-dropping amount, usually around 10 per cent, although this was consistent in all of our benchmarks."

http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/pc-components/processors/intel-core-i5-3570k-1077183/review

"The new Intel Core i5 3570K has everything that made its Core i5 2500K such a winning CPU.
Per core performance is the best you can buy."

Sorry to disagree, but yes, it does perform 10% better. BUT, it is hotter, way hotter... My 2500k stock runs at 35 under 212+ p/p 3570k ran at 43. Not to mention under intel stock cooling it ran at 55+

If not overclocking, consider a non-k series chip

Overall 2500k is a better overclock in the long run, but is missing a few features the IB has

Overall 2500k is a better overclock in the long run, but is missing a few features the IB has

It (IB) also has a higher TJmax, sooooo:

2500K @ 35C TJmax of 98C = 63C to TJmax
3570K @ 43C TJMax of 105C = 62C to TJmax

Wouldnt consider that running "way hotter", in relation to its tjmax temperature it runs the same in your example.

Personally I'd get the 3570K just so you could get a nice Z77 motherboard with all the more-future-proof items that beat out the Z68's
