Hello.

I need help deciding what 140mm case fans to get. I have the Arc Midi and I plan to use these fans for the front intake and rear exhaust. I would like the price to be under $15.

Thanks!

welcome to the forum,
my midi has BGears 140 fans in it. some use the noise-blocker or akasa fans.

just depends on your noise level toleration and whats behind the fans?
if you are using a "better fan controller" the faster and powerful one can be undervolted
for noise usage. corsairs new AF140 (quiet edition) are fine case fans, but if you are
using the HDD cages behind the fans, they wash out too fast and die just after the cages.
after i painted the BGears blades, i unvervolted them to 7volts and are delighted with the
performance and quietness (i do not have any HDD cages).
hope this helps out fellow midi user. go here and post you rig.

Im using NZXT 140FN fans in my Midi. Alright fans but mainly got them because they were very cheap and look like the fans that came with the case

Thanks for the welcome.

I was looking for fans under 25 dBA. 30 would be the max. I really liked the new fans from Corsair, but they are just too expensive for me now. Hopefully they go on sale soon. Going a little off topic, but where did you mount your SSD/HDD if you did not have any cages? I have my rig posted in my signature.

Pretty funny since I was looking at the same fans for the same reasons you posted. I will probably go for something that is higher quality though.

right now, i have a pci-e adpater that holds the SSD and all my SATA ports are open (no wires!)
will be installing a 250GB notebook drive for minicual storage, everything else is either networked
or portible USB drive.

will update Altered Fractal Theory album, soon.

Really nice. When you get the time, could you please take a picture of the how it is holding your SSD. I am really interested in doing that now.

Since it looks like I misread the correct sizes for fan mounting on the Midi, how many fans can I actually mount on top? If I can't mount three 140mm fans, could I just mount three 120mm fans? Or two 140mm and one 120mm fan?

I have seen some reviews of the Yate Loon and Cooljag Everflow fans being amazing at cooling while still being cheap.

For three Cooljag Everflow 140mm fans it would cost $40.93 with shipping included. Advertised as 74.20 CFM and 26.5 dBA. As for the Yate Loon's, three of them would be $39.61. It is being shown as 62 CFM and 29 dBA.

Cooljag seems to be a better deal because of it being shown at a lower dBA and having a higher CFM, but that is just advertised, and yes, I know it probably won't be that.

I forgot to say that I would have to buy a fan controller as well, so I changed my price to under $10 each fan.

What do you think about these fans (since I can't find any reviews on them.)

you'd be the first.. i usually stay mainstream. ive already got a collection of fans from testing and tbh, its a perception
of how well you think you did. unless you have precise measuring equipment to verify the mod, it'd be best to stick
to mainstream products. now you can venture on and try them.. but how will you know you did any good?
i spent 60hrs of testing which fan position(s) works best for just stock fans and all that went to hell with the
first fan upgrade (bitfenix pro), then akasa, YL, cooler master, noise-blocker, cougar... and settled on the BGears
on an undervolt.

most of this was to compare case flow data. now i'm going to custom water-cooling. the H100 was pretty good
with the SP120 quiet fans...almost had 5.0, till the pump/contoller went out. looking for a 5.3 bonzai run and
24/7 clock 4.6/4.7 @ 1.335vcore on the custom loop.

On top of the Arc Midi you can mount 3x120 or 2x140+1x120 fans without modifications.

Now, about the 140 fans. I am personally using Noiseblockers but they are around 20$ or more.

Some alternatives are:
Cougar Vortex are good fans and they are around 17$ on Newegg.
Akasa Apache for around 15-16$
Yate Loon high or medium speed, they are much cheaper (~9$) and you can undervolt them to make them quieter.
Bitfenix Spectre, ~12$.
