10600R - the R means registered.
Normally, consumer-class motherboards won't support it.

ECC or not is not a big matter - my bedroom rig is running a pair of 1GB Hynix 1333MHz ECC sticks in conjunction with a pair of regular G.Skill NTs.

The ECC is just not functioning because my board doesn't support it.

Yep, most platforms just ignore the parity bits of unbuffered ECC if they don't support ECC.

However, they can't ignore, and don't know how to work with, a register.
