I dont know how you guys work with acrylic, I've attempted it on a simple PSU cover and all I ever do is crack it at the bends once it's cooled down, apparently either the stuff I am working with is complete garbage or it's just how this crap works. It warps too easy and really has no flex to it for installation. I'm throwing it all away and moving back to sheetmetal.

This will come in handy. I have some concepts that haven't gotten off the drawing board because they would be essentially full case builds from scratch out of acrylic. I've also thought about building a "tank within a tank" to put a submersion rig inside a live functioning fish tank. Thanks!

Hi guys, found this while searching the Acrylic pipebending 101 and just wanted to share this acrylic sheet bending table I made. It is using nichrome wire powerd by a laptop power brick. Bends perfect angles in acrylic sheet up to 3/8 inch (that is the thickest I tried at least) in as little as 30 seconds.

Here are some test bends I made.

This video is from the inital version that was powed by a spare ATX power supply using 12 volts.

Very nice! I've been meaning to make myself a bending station like this but I could never figure out a really good way to power it. You have vid on the wiring or is it just simply negative to positive with nichrome in between?

Here is the video of the test setup with the laptop power supply. It is just simply negative to positive with nichrome in between but you need to determine the size and length of the wire in relation to the volts and amps of the power supply.

There is a nice calculator that I used to determine the wire I needed. http://www.jacobs-online.biz/nichrome/NichromeCalc.html

I just cut the end off the wire and attached the leads. There are three wires, White, Black, and Green.I did not use ground, Green wire.

In hindsight I should have not cut the connector off of the power supply and incorporated a connector onto the table. I will do this if I ever decide to make changes.
