Okay, thanks guys, I finally decided on what to get, but I do still plan on getting an ASUS motherboard, even though MSI, GIGABYTE, EVGA, and SUPERMICRO are all great and legendary motherboard manufacturers too.

Get the ASUS Board, 16gigs of some g.skill ram
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231501

You are obviously going to go nuts on custom cooling so have fun with that.

Make sure you get a SSD drive, you can use this to pick and choose.
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ssd-recommendation-review,3194.html

What components do you already have?

Also, how many/what resolution monitors will you be using? Depending on that, you may want to go 4GB GTX 680's in SLI. That would be your best bet for sure. I definitely think you would be satisfied with that smile.gif

Not sure how much of an audiophile you are, but a good sound card and the like should be in order smile.gif

Nuts on custom cooling? Do you mean nuts as in having a hard time, or just going on a rampage spree on overclocking and cooling? I'm going to order all my components tomorrow, so I don't have any of them yet. I will be using 3 monitors in Eyefinity with a res of 2560 x 1600 each. I'm edging to go with the 7970 in crossfire mode, because it provides better performance than the 680 in sli mode when overclocked. I'm going with Fatal1ty sound card because of it's wide spread and awesome performance, according to all what I've HEARD about it.

This is all good. The 4GB 680 would possibly outperform the 7970's in large scale rez.. but to each their own.. it is very much a toss up. I just prefer Nvidia driver support as of late (I've owned lots of both company's cards, not being bias).

Nuts on cooling as in.. rampage of overclocking and cooling biggrin.gif

I'd be interested to know if you plan on goign with a 120 hz monitor solution or you are going for IPS and image/resolution. Any X-fi soundcard works great, I just have an old PCI X-Fi extremgamer and have yet to have a SINGLE issue with it over 3+ years.

Congrats on the build, I will hopefully SLI my 670 somewhat soon.

watch out with the fatal1ty sound cards. I have 2 of them and each have a slight hiss to them. Turning off unused ports reduces the hiss, but it's still noticeable if you pay attention and leave ur speakers on a higher volume while controlling the sound level through windows.

So far, I think I'm just going to go with a 120 hz solution because I never tried out an IPS monitor, and whenever I try something completely new that seems overly exaggerated, it always turns out to be somewhat suckish. sadsmiley.gif

Well now, that's a bit of a problem considering I'm a tiny bit of an audiophile. What sound card would you recommend? Thanks for the warning. +rep

That's definitely startling frown.gif I only have experience with my xtremegamer. They do actually have a tiny bit of an audible buzz with NO other soudn playing if you turn them way up.. but otherwise it's great.

As for the 120 hz, what monitors are you getting? just curiousity smile.gif

The HT Omega Claros are simply amazing. Xonar essences are also quite nice. Just depends what outputs u need. They are great for home theater style audio. If you game then the Xonar Phoebus is one of the best around, some games require asus to get on top of drivers tho.
