Hello everyone,
I just bought a new gaming rig and I would like to do some slight overclocking (4.0 - 4.2GHz) to my new Ivy Bridge i5 3550 with just changing Multipliers and maybe slightly the BLCK to 102.5 instead of the default 100. I have NO knowledge about Voltage changing so that's my weak spot, and when I did an OC to 3.7GHz (just changing to x37) my system worked but a little unstable, sometimes rebooting itself or having a hard time to boot the OS or even the BIOS... I was told this is because of low Voltage problems but I think it's weird because I set it to AUTO. Also there are some additional settings in the BIOS which I think I should disable or modify such as those "power saving" thinigs, etc...
My specs are:
CPU:::::::::::::::::: Intel Core i5 3550
Motherboard:::: MSI Z77A-G43
Graphics:::::::::: EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 SE 1GB
RAM::::::::::::::::: G.Skill DDR3 2x2GB 1600Mhz PC3-12800 RipjawsX
Hard Drive:::::::: Seagate Barracuda 250GB Sata2 7200rpm
Hard Drive:::::::: Samsung F1 320GB Sata2 7200rpm
Optical Drive:::: Samsung Super WriteMaster SH-S223
Cooling::::::::::::: Thermaltake 120mm Blue LED Fan (x4)
Power Supply:::: Antec 520W Neo Eco 520C 80PLUS
Case:::::::::::::::: Thermaltake Commander MS-I Snow Edition
OS:::::::::::::::::::: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Monitor::::::::::::: Sony Bravia LED 32EX525
Keyboard::::::::: Maxell LED Retroilluminated Keyboard
Mouse:::::::::::::: A4Tech X7-F3
Any help would be extremely appreciated and please don't post comments like "non-K versions aren't for overclocking so don't do it" because I really want to do it and my MB allows me to, so why not
THANKS!
PS: I'll upload some images of my BIOS configuration if it helps ^^
