CaseLabs SMH10 Now Shipping! - Page 22

If I went the passive PSU route, I'd probably have the radiators exhaust out of the case. That would pull a steady stream of air across the PSU. I haven't tested it, but I would expect the airflow through the radiators to be better as well (no dam effect from the PSU).

Hi all biggrin.gif

It would be nice to have a PSU in front solution to maximise radiator capacity in SMH10 & STH10:

The power cable extension could lead to a new PSU cover plate.... headscratch.gif

OK, very nice thumb.gif How do you attach the PSU to the front? It would be nice to have a fan between front and PSU.

If you haven't noticed, there are tons of holes and mounting plates and such available from CaseLabs. One option would be to use longer screws and mount it with a 120mm fan mount. There are lots of different options though; you could always drill M4 threads into the side of the PSU cover too and mount it with the 5.25" bars.

Who says you have face the mounting plates inward to be 5.25" apart instead of outward to be about 6" apart? Like i said, there are a lot of options.

Why don't you just mount a radiator in the front in stead? I don't really understand the need to overly complicate things and destroy the internal looks just to have a little more rad in the basement/top. Mounting something like a 360 in the front would give you more cooling and look waaay better anyway.

Two 140.4 look way better IMHO and the DIY PSU mounting does not necessarily look bad. Maybe my first try does... rolleyes.gif

Not if you don't fill up the massive space towards the front of the case with something. A radiator would be perfect for that. I've seen plenty of builds with the PSU mounted in the front, and it's never looked particularly good. There's a much bigger impact on the looks with a PSU up front, than a PSU hidden away behind a 480mm rad mount in the bottom. But each to his own, I guess.
