AMD release HD 7970 Ghz bios upgrade for Reference HD 7970 !! - Page 29

Hey Everyone,

I have a little problem... my card flashed flawless, i have the " Club 3d hd7970 royalqueen " all seems to be working ok, but I installed msi ab and the voltages are not shown... it's as i can't adjust the voltages at all,

And on gpu-z its reading .85v off load and 1.26 on load i think this is normal right ??

Any idea anybody ?? redface.gif

I also tryed the bios file thats uploaded on this tread and flashed it from bios. and still same problem.

And there's one other thing, did anyone try to connect 2 dvi monitors to this card ?? i tried and did not work... had same isue also with stock rom.. will try a pair of lcd's soon smile.gif Hope they work !! lol

1.tip ..use 3Dmark Vantage for stability
2. i end use the original bios on my card as this bios (7970G) was not stable on my card which is gigabyte 7970 OC 3x
u should get easily

good luck.

How do I flash my BIOS with atiflash if I am running Windows 8 x64? I get an error saying that atiflash is an "unsupported 16-bit application".

EDIT: Please disregard. The original .exe flash utility (not DOS one) gave me an error. I tried it again and it worked. Testing new clocks now!

Flashed all 3 of my sapphire 7970 HD's last night using the AMD executable from windows, all went very well and it overclocks better than it ever did. No more pissing about with AB for me. smile.gif

Some screenshots of my happiness follow after two hours on Black Ops 2 tonight. smile.gif

I will do some more serious benching tomorrow night but it has to be said this bios flash was well worthwhile, ULPS working perfectly and no 3rd party software messing about to tweak overclocks.
I am a happy man.

Nice! If only I had time to get to water cooling... My GHz BIOSes are still waiting for it on the other BIOS slot. redface.gif

That is the beauty of this BIOS. Nice voltage boost and extended clock limits without further tweaking. Saves from a lot of headache especially when in CF.
