AMD release HD 7970 Ghz bios upgrade for Reference HD 7970 !! - Page 6

Worked perfect for mine, which was originally on the Asus unlocked BIOS, used to get GSOD at idle on 12.5 and above, now on the GHZ BIOS with 12.7 beta and it's running fine.

Might sound silly, but make sure the file is extracted from the zip?

I have flashed my reference Powercolor HD 7970 and my non reference HIS Blue PCB HD 7970, both are working fine with the new bios. 1050/1500. Using lower voltages aswell smile.gif.

Use this link for more info http://legitreviews.com/news/13622/, flashing is easy, you do it windows and then re boot, might be an idea to back up your old bios first, dual bios switch makes this so easy and safe anyways.

( If you want use this bios, you need use the 12.7beta driver for get PTE and TurboBoost enabled ( as it contain the software algorythm needed )

What's PTE?

I decided to flash on bios 2 because it was allready corrupted. Before i flashed my screen went light blue'ish then fans went to 100% then black (sleep mode but i have sleep mode disabled oO) and it didn't wanna come back out of that state so i figured since that bios was allready humped from the get go i might as well flash it since i have notingh to lose anyways but now im in a bit of a stand still. Only have 1 bios left, to flash or not to flash that is the question lol.

Is it a reference PCB? (does it say AMD by the PCIE slot?)

Edit: just looked. The PCB is Red and doesnt say AMD on it. Do not flash it with this bios (just because someone else was able to put this bios on their non-reference card doesnt mean it will work on yours). re-flash your secondary bios with an image of your primary bios.

You can save the BIOS your card is currently running in GPU-Z
post #60 of 390
It's saved as a rom file. And then?
