AMD release HD 7970 Ghz bios upgrade for Reference HD 7970 !! - Page 9

Flash this bios to my cards (very painless)

ati bios flash.JPG

My cards have ASIC of 77.3% and 78% so default voltage was 1.112v

So after the flash my default reading in MSI AB was 1.093v as expected.

msi.JPG

BUT!!!!!!!

MSI AB OSD is saying 1.149v while playing games and HWinfo64 seems to be backing that up (well 1.131v, but I guess there is Vdroop)

BF3.JPG

ati.JPG

The problem I have now is that I can't seem to apply any voltage adjustments in MSI AB  rolleyes.gif

On a side note, MSI AB give me an update about two days ago to 2.2.2, but I don't see that on there site, what version are others using ? ( I use MSI AB because I like the OSD)

Why you no voltage on 2.2.1?

Btw 2.2.1 has the clock control files bundled but 2.2.2 does not. If yer on 2.2.2 now, try this.

Tried both, on 2.2.1 now, can move the voltage slider and apply, it just doesn't make a difference to the card voltage. Weird

Tried Trixx, same problem, no voltage changes are being applied.

I don't understand why people are eager to brick their cards. HD 7970 CF at 1300 Mhz. What more do you want ? You are literally at the top of the GPU stack with those speeds in CF. just enjoy what you have. thumb.gif

That was my question . Is there a point. I like pushing the envelope but not about to brick a card for a few unessary fps.

Glad it worked well for you aswell, overclocking is much more stable, memory previously limited to 1475mhz now I can go beyond 1600Mhz. Gaming etc both cards are 100% stable. I don't even bother overclocking anymore for gaming, stock GHz bios on these cards is beast, destroying BF3 on Ultra @ 2560 x 1440 thumb.gif.
