Should I invest in a fan for my bridge on a z77 ASRock Extreme 4?

Thread Starter
I saw some really cheap ones (under 10 bucks) earlier in the night. I've also read a lot about how this boards bridge runs hot. It has a gimpier heatsink than its predecessors and isn't connected to any other heatsinks by piping or anything. Now add that I am going to be overclocking (taking my 2500k to about 4.5ghz, but likely no further than that) and I have become concerned! What are you guys thoughts on how important or worth it would be for me to install one of these? I really, really don't want for anything to ever overheat and die in this system. I think that's what went wrong with my last one, which is why I'm buying / upgrading to this one.

My best advice would be to keep an eye on the bridge temperature through an application like speedfan while you're testing the stability of your overclock. If it gets too hot - which it shouldn't, at least, mine doesn't at 4.5 - you might want to put a fan on there, but if not you should probably be fine.

Edit: Ps: I love voltaire wink.gif
