I'm not saying GT5 looks horrible because for a console game it doesn't even for PC games it's not that bad visually. PC games are still a lot better visually than the visuals of GT5 (especially lighting and shadows) but you can't really compare the visuals of a console game to the visuals of a PC game.

That GTR is rendered in real time.

As are the cars in photomode (though it maxes the PS3 far beyond it's capabilities)

Pretty Good for a game that had it's inception in 2005-6 running on hardware that is more than 7 years old, even older if you count the CPU. And make that pumping 720p on 256mb ram.

The real deal will be GT6.

But i'll buy C.A.R.S anyway, im a car racing freak tongue.gif

Strangely anything below 50 fps will work like a slow-mo if the game is (NTSC).
Emulating a console is much harder than you think, it is like commanding the PC into doing something it is not supposed to do.

Naw, you can run most PS2 games on PCSX2 with a Phenom 2. There are a handful of games that require a sandybridge to get full FPS. I run a stock SB, and I max out every game I tested, including some of the most demanding games for the PS2 graphics wise. I tested both FFXII and Rogue Galaxy and took the FPS limiter off, and I hovered around 80-120, which means at no point in time did the FPS drop below 60. And that was using none of the speed boosts, and with the speed boosts I got over 300-350fps, which are actually required for getting 60fps on some older processors. SB owns PCSX2. Also they look a whole lot better than on a real PS2, because they run in HD. Dolphin, the GC/Wii Emulator requires even less specs to get full performance on. Partially because Wii games only run at 30fps, and the graphics isn't a whole lot better than PS2. Wii Games on Dolphin also look a whole lot better than on a real Wii.

Well I use PCSX2 extensively and I max everything, save for the games that have known code screwups. Like Persona 4, I can run it at 2000x2000 with 16AA on 1920 x 2000 at 170fps. Soon as a shiney (metallic) enemy appears, I slow down to literally 6-7fps.

Certain games will never grant you full speed.

I tried my old favorite Tekken Tag Tournament on a 4.5 GHz i7 2600K and in some stage it didn't made the cut to 60 fps.
It was very laggy around ~46-53 fps.
But I can max out alot of games now with PCSX 0.9.9 beta dont remember the SVN number though wink.gif . I agree the developers did awesome job optimizing this emulator, now 60 fps is very attainable considering you own a decent PC.
Sorry for going out of topic OP.

I can't belive you are comparing photomode pictures, a game mode that runs resolutions and image quality that you never see during gameplay rolleyes.gif

Seriously, GT5 looks like ass, NFS:Shift 1 on PC looks better.

You need a SB to run that game. I ran it with no issues at all and I'm only running 3.6ghz stock. The only game that somewhat tested it was Valkyrie profile 2, its literally the only game I ever tried that I saw less than 60fps at any time. Some of the battles at the start would drop to 50fps for a few secs before it picked back up. Enabling the speed boosts fixed it. Zone of Enders 2 as far as I know is still impossible to get playable frame rates, and that is only due to some incompatibility with the emulator, and not because PCs lack the performance to emulate it.

Its gonna be at least another 5 years before PS3 is being emulated at full frame rates, and that is probably with many games still being incompatible. PS4? Maybe another 15 years? Just a guess.

If it's real time then why does it take so long for the image to display on the screen after you took the "photo"? If it was real time then it shouldn't taken 30-200 seconds, it should be instant.

EDIT: Look at the real time rendering rolleyes.gif

It still is being rendered.

the is a difference between rendered and pre rendered, I was just pointing that out.
