Are you saving a profile for your stable overclock? Mine also is resetting when I play BF2142, but I think this is due to VPU recover. Try disabling this, and let me know what happens. I've started a thread about exactly this problem at a few forums, so I will let you know if I come across a solution. Also, you may want to try a program called "Radlinker". This program lets you create what is called a Radlink for specific apps, like games, by right clicking on them and setting the clock speeds and memory speeds. It isn't working on my PC right now, not sure why. I used to use this app on my laptop back in 2002, but I haven't really played with it much yet. I read in some overclocking guide that the author uses ATItool to check for artifacts at certain clocks, then sets them in radlinker. Anyhow, let me know how this goes, and good luck.

Oh yea my OCs don't always reset, though. You may also want to try the Omega drivers, which I'm gonna do tommorrow night after work. Here is the link:
http://www.omegadrivers.net/
You will then select "ATI radeon" then your OS, etc. They are pretty good, but I haven't used them since 2003 or so, when I had my old laptop. Also, let me know how this goes if you use them. They aren't radically different from the ATI Catalysts, as the author begins with Catalyst drivers, then mods them for gamers, adding Multires, and other gaming specific options.

Ok..........but then how will I monitor my GPU's temeprature? I am going to download an app called Everest tonight, it says that you can monitor the LM63 chip, which is the chip in my card that allows temp monitoring. I appreciate the help. Also, does memory timings=frequency?

Nevermind....downloaded Rivatuner, so I can monitor and overclock. Which brings me to the next problem: my clock speeds that I set will not stay when I play a game, and I now that they are stable becuase I've tested them for artifacts in ATItool, and my temperature doesn't even exceed 60 celcius. Anyone know what's up?

Well AtiTool .25 BETA 14 Works for me. Beta 15 and 16 are REALLY glitchy. It works good for me in temp monitoring and overclocking.
If the clocks still aren't staying in BETA 14 Atitool did you set atitool to run when you start your computer to set the right clocks?

Are you perchance clicking default in ATITool to reset the clock speeds at any point? DON'T do it- I found out that that was what was causing my clock speeds to do weird stuff like that. When I left that button alone entirely, it switched from 2d to 3d and back just fine.

Man I don't used ATItool anymore, Rivatuner is better in my opinion. I have isolated the OC resetting to that of the game, not the OC software. It is only for Battlefield 2 and 2142. I tested on Quake 4 and found that it was retained on this game, but on the other BF games it reset. I posted a thread about this entitled 'Clock speeds won't retain!', and another guy has the exact same problem. If anyone has a solution please let me know.
