Just over 1.7V, when under load the screen goes black and volts drop down to ~0.023V. if I recall.

Sounds more like OVP. One way to rule out OVP it to tune the voltage up with the card at idle to see how high it will go.

Also, what kind of vdroop does it have?

From the uP607 datasheet:

VIMAX = K x RIMAX x IAVG = RIMAX x IOUT x DCR / RCSN

The over current protection is activated and shuts down the uP6207 if the IMAX voltage is higher than 1.2V.


Output Over Voltage Protection

The OVP is activated and turns on the low side MOSFETs

if ( VFB - VEAP) > 160mV

The over voltage protection is latch-off and can only be reset by POR or toggling the EN pin.


Under Voltage Protection

The under voltage protection is activated if FB voltage VFBis 300mV lower than the VEAP. UVP turns off and latches
the uP6207.


Voltage Control Loop (External Reference Voltage)

VFB and VEAP are negative and positive inputs of the Error Amplifier respectively. The EAP pin voltage is expressed as:

VEAP = VEXT - K x RDROOP x IAVG

where VEXT is a slew rate limited voltage source, IAVG is a current source proportional to output current, K a current mirror gain (K = 3 for three phase operation, K = 2 for two phase operation) and RDROOP is an external resistor for adjusting load line slope.

The FB pin voltage VFB is expressed as:

VFB = VOUT - RFB x IOFS

where VOUT is the output voltage, IOFS is a current source for initial offset adjustment, RFB is an external resistor.

The Error Amplifier modulates the COMP voltage VCOMP and the duty cycle of buck converter to force FB voltage VFB follows VEAP. Therefore, the output voltage will be:

VOUT = VEXT - K x RDROOP x IAVG + RFB x IOFS

VOUT = VEXT - (IOUT X DCR X RDROOP)/RCSN + RFB X IOFS

Hard to say without the complete datasheet. It's most likely relative to the distance from VID.

I would suggest just capping the card for now and testing for OVP on your next freeze.

But this is not your controller. You went to 1.6v without shutdown! This one triggers at 1.2v and FB is pin10

You don't think it uses the same pins, though? FB and EAP? And 1.7V without shutdown!

I would assume I just have to put a large resistor between the two so it never sees more than ~1V difference. That sounds safe(ish).

Think up6208 is much closer of a design. It has a similar VR11/VR10 VID layout. It states that vout is ovp. At work so i can't do anymore reading atm.
