samsung 830 SSD very low write speeds

Thread Starter
Hello,
I just bought a new Samsung 830 128GB SSD for my Asus g74sx but I'm having REALLY slow write speeds after installation (84MB/s), my read speeds are excellent (560MB/s)
I don't know what I did wrong... I installed windows, installed IRST, and then ran performance optimization in Samsung Magician. Anyone have any idea why my write speeds are SO low?

thanks

That is very low. I have one of these drives and it has much higher writes than that (can't remember exactly I am not at my desktop). Are you copying from a slower device like an HDD or are you writing within the SSD itself? You may have gotten a defective drive.

How are you testing this?

Post a screenshot of AS SSD: (link)
  1. Open AS SSD
  2. Select your SSD in the top left drop down box
  3. If troubleshooting a SSD run the benchmark as well, if HDD do not run the benchmark.
  4. Click "File" at the top
  5. Click Screenshot > Save
  6. Upload to OCN in your post with the image insertion tool.

So it's dropped even more on this test... WTH is going on? This is HORRIBLE.

Ouch. That's awful. Even accounting for worse controllers on the laptop, it shouldn't be that bad. How much free space do you have on the SSD? Also, can you manually run TRIM from Samsung Magician?

Well one idea is that is it the motherboard restricting it.

Though, do you happen to have anything like disk encryption or NTFS file compression enabled?

I know, it's horrible =( This is a brand new drive. Just got it yesterday so it hasn't been running for more than 10 hours and definitely hasn't had a lot of installs/deletes/benchmarks. I've got 85 gigs of free space left on the ssd. Yes I can run TRIM on Samsung Magician.

nope to both. I literally just got done installing W7 Ultimate and GW2 on this drive and that is all I have done. Haven't messed with any settings other than what was recommended in the SSD guide.
