Most modern systems do indeed place most of the draw on the 12v. That's why JG has crossloading tests, as well as to establish how PSUs cope with focused load patterns. The Channel Well design that the CX430 (both versions) use is a low-end one in several respects, which is why I don't recommend it as the best choice for the spec you posted.

Okee dokes! Thanks for all the input guys. Helped me think through things. That combo deal $56-15 giftcard-20AR is just too good.
