Do I need clamps? - Page 3

They are just basic clamps a bit of a pain to get on (I use needle pliers) they are something like these but black nickel.

If you decide to clamp I recommend clamps with a hex nut as they are really easy to fit. I got Lamptron but if I was buying again would probably get Phobya as they are a bit cheaper!

With that money I should just get compression fittings, right? lol

I recommend clamps, clips or compression fittings always. I always have a few hoses with tight angles which without clamps or something it could be prone to leaks. Just not worth the risk not too mention if you ever have to move something in your rig and you just want to unscrew but leave the loop in tact you are at risk of making a boo boo.

Either my pump or my Apogee came with black hose clamps the screw down type. I ended up using them on my pump and will post a photo when I get home. They might be a great fit if you want to go the barb route. The rest of my hoses are visible so I went with bitspower compression fittings. They look awesome are relatively easy to work with (They can be a little rough on the fingers tightening stuff down in small places) and come with rotary options to make it easier to install.

Cheers,
Antjel

It is a very clean look and it will not leak! However it is a PITA, so if you have many fittings involved, go with compression fittings.

You don't even need to stretch your tubing if you use 3/8" tubing w/ 3/8" non-stubby fittings. I haven't used clamps in 3-4 years now w/ no accidents. I actually find it much more secure than using 1/2" tubing w/ compressions.
