Thats not an Eyefinity card as it's confined to max 4 screens and even that with mixed outputs. An Eyefinity card can run 6x screens, unfortunately there aint many in 7xxx series. No 79xx card on the market atm can run 6x 1600p and there are three companies making 7870 cards with 6x DP that could run 6x 1600p, however, these are castrated at that resolution by having only 2 Gb vRAM even if you do quad-fire. I would say based on running 5x1080p with 1 Gb of vRAM (a 1080p is half the pixels of 1600p screen) that for such resolution 3 Gb is sort of minimum if you do not use any AA. With 2 Gb you would have to manually tweak the more memory intensive effects for getting a reasonable frame rate as if the card hits its vRAM limit the performance just drop off the cliff while if the issue is raw performance then the performance degrading is more graceful and almost linear.

What a shame. It would be such a good card with 6x DP and now such a waste of potential ...

Just wondering, I noticed there was a 5870 with 6 mini DP, why couldn't Sapphire just do that again?

Nice looking card, dread to think how much it will cost though.

Iirc the 7970 only has 6 lanes video to use. Dp can do 2560x1600 on one lane while dvi dl needs 2 lanes. Thus, on this card it needs 2 for mdp, 1 hdmi , 2 for dvi dl and one for dvi sl reaching 6. Same reason why the lightning has 4 mdp and 2 dvi sl. They catch a lot of flack for not having any dvi dl by those who don't have dp monitors as well

If anything, that test suite favors Nvidia. And the reason the 7970 Toxic crushes the 680 here is because of the massive overclock.

Favor NV, maybe 2-3 years ago..
The newest title is Dirt 3 and it's an AMD game.

TT needs to update their test suite.

The dongles are so cheap so considering the cost of this card they might as well just throw 6x DP to DVI dongles in the box and do a card with 6x DP. Or. .. well .. ok active DL-DVI ones are not THAT cheap, but they could still get away by ramping up the price a bit and throwing 2 of these in the box. The card would have pretty good point with 6x DP but atm its just meh.

Just because it's sponsored by AMD and has got the AMD logo does not mean it runs better on AMD Hardware, the same situation can be applied to Metro 2033.
HAWX 2, Just Cause 2 and Mafia 2 will favor Nvidia performance-wise,
Lost Planet 2 and Far Cry 2 isn't even a contest Nvidia >>> AMD in those games.

An old benchmark suite is only bad if it's CPU-bottlenecked

I'm pretty sure he/she meant Dirt Showdown. The 7970GE and 680 perform very similar on Dirt 3 (proof further down), and the 7970 performs much better on Showdown than the 680 (like how the 680 performs well on batman games). The bottom 2 links you provided are outdated.

Favoring a manufacturer and having support from the manufacturer are two different things (though the latter tends to precede the former in majority of cases).

AMD supposedly partnered with BF3 ... we all know how that turned out ... ( before anyone dies of shock, see this: http://blogs.amd.com/play/category/gamepartners/page/2/?utm_source=sendgrid.com&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=website ).

When dirt 3 was first released, it seemed to like AMD hardware better iirc. But Nvidia quickly killed that. I think there's a communication issue between you two where one means "xxx manufacturer supported this game" and the other means "runs better on xxx manufacturer's hardware". Two near-independent events.

Can't always blame a game (like Crysis 2 with the 69xx series) when it favors one team over the other, sometimes, it is a hardware issue limitation...

Either way, I want this card ... though I am a bit surprised by the noise and power draw ... I suppose it is in line with a regular overclocked 7970...
