I asked this same question but never got a response...prob because the board is not out yet tongue.gif

You can disable the LSI chip in the BIOS, but that won't magically free up that 8x PCI-E 3.0 lane. The two PLX chip's (two 16x GPU slots per PLX) are hard-wired to have their own 16x lane to the CPU.
With the two PLX chip's all the GPU's run at quad-16x no matter if the LSI controller is there or not. X79 cannot run quad-16x native no matter the configuration, pretty much the main reason behind creating this board is to get around that.

Okay, that kind of confused me even more. I got >1 hour of sleep last night so my mind is barely functioning today. You said that X79 cannot run quad-x16 native no matter the configuration But before that, you said the the two PLX chips, all the GPU's run at quad-16x no matter if the LSI is on or not. Sorry if this seems stupid to you but I really am tired. So can you just simply say yes or no if it is possible to run PCI-e 3.0 x16 speed for all 4 GPU's. *yawn*

Probably worth noting that the sites in spain and oz are only taking pre-orders. I'm not sure it's actually coming out anywhere this (or maybe next) week.

Still, it'd be nice to get a pre-order in, if nothing else.

PS: Hi people! Been lurking a while. Never had anything to say. smile.gif

Yes, it is proprietary and i doubt that it has battery backup, I had to order it with my card.

http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/X79%20Extreme11/ check the asrock official page for confimation, you can run 4 gpus 3.0 at 16x all together with no problem, x79 chipset cannot run all the cards at 16x but with the addition of two PLX PEX 8747 bridges you can, since you have a total of 64lanes if am not mistaken, the plx chips each takes 8lanes and multiply them to provide extra lanes.
