Ya, I'm not sure if being all at 16x 3.0 with the two PLX chips will matter much. Using my Sniper 3 my GPU's are maxed out and I am not getting any PCI-E bandwidth issues at quad 8x 3.0. It's only when you run these fastest card in 3-4 GPU high resolution Eyefinity/Surround at 8x PCI-E 2.0 have I found a significant speed drop. Stay at 16x 2.0 or 8x 3.0 and you will be good.

maybe in the future there will be cards that will take use of all the 16x 3.0 pcie, extra lanes is always good, no limitation in raid and pcie SSDs in the future, you can have all the 7 pcie occupied and never have to worry about your graphic card droping to 4x or 8x, this is the beauty of it, it might be an overkill now, but for someone who tends to keep it for quite along time its a good investment.

Ya, it will be interesting to see if "Big Kepler" or the 8000 series will require anything faster than 16x 2.0 or 8x 3.0.

I like the "slot-happy motherboard". I am glad that asrock follows the road of high end m/b been using them for over 10 years. Nice job!

A news floated today that intel will use the x79 chipset for 2 gen forward all the way to broadwell.
