Does Clonezilla allow you to clone only Windows OS or do you have to clone everything? My OS partition only has 150 Gb space out of 935 Gb left redface.gif

You can clone just the OS partition. As for performance hit, significant if benchmarking. Real world use, not really.

Guide for going from old drive to new one here: www.overclock.net/t/1227835/how-to-disk-and-partition-cloning-backup-restoration-migration

As for performance hit, it is only in benches, you wouldn't notice in real world use. Use the Intel SATA connection and be happy. I went from my x58 build to this Z68 one and there is no difference in responsiveness from my SATA 3 SSD.

Oh I don't have an OS only partition, I onlyy have one partition. Foolish I know, but I didn't know I would be purchasing an SSD.

anwyay. I think the easiest thing for me to do is clean install on the SSD. Will there be license problems?

Oh and if my games were already installed on my HDD, doing a clean install on the SSD and using my HDD as a storage drive, can I still play those games from the HDD?

Easiest thing to do is a clean install. License problem? Don't think so.. I've used upgrade media for clean installs and it works just fine. Don't know if it's against the TOS here or not, but just Google how to do a clean install with upgrade media.

It should accept the key, but it may not activate. If it doesn't activate, do the phone activation (Windows will generate a bunch of numbers/letters for you to read to a robot, the robot then reads you back some numbers/letters to type in and activate)

Depends on the game. I know with Steam games you can usually get away with using a saved copy, but for most games you might need to do a reinstall because of Windows' Registry

what about game saves. I have gotten really far in Arkham CIty and do not wish to start the game all over again. I know where my saved files are but is there always a way to recover them even if there is a reinstall?

well suffice it to say my benchmarks for Read speed sucks. Its only at 260 MB/s. My write is 248 Mb/s which is better than I thought for SATA 2 on an X-58. I am using a SATA 2 that came with my mobo. I have SATA 3s on the way to hook up to my Marvell SATA 3 to see if my speed increases at all

Pfft, overall it is best to stay on the Intel SATA 2 port.

On the Marvell port you will see ~380MB/s reads. No difference in speed really in real world use. Plus you should get faster boot with the Intel SATA 2 port and the Marvell controller disabled.

I'll take that. I'm just gonna patiently wait till Monday to test out the Marvel Sata 3.

This is what I have so far
I know I'm supposed to take hit, didn't know if it should be this much.
