Suggestions for Low Cost Receiver

Due to the great deals going right now, I gave in to temptation and purchased a pair of Polk Audio RTi6 bookshelf speakers and a PSW10 subwoofer. I just need a power source for my new speakers. I realize it won't be high-end by any means, but I would like to keep it under $300. Connectivity is not important, only sound quality. Here are the ones I am considering strongly at the moment:
Denon AVR 1612 for $220
Pioneer Elite VSX-40 for $280
There are so many options; I was hoping for some suggestions.

Also, If anyone knows of a good home theater forum, I would appreciate the info.

That website, accessories4less, has some serious deals. I went slightly over budget and opted for a refurbished Marantz SR5004.

Hi... btw I am also looking for the same two options you have mentioned...
I have three options to choose for,
Used vsx40 with all accessories & box for $160 (No Warranty)
Denon 1612 for $199 &
Pioneer 921 for $235...
Currently I have Pioneer pair of BS41 & CS 21 as 3.1 setup so leaning towards pioneer sx40...
Dont know how much audyssey of Denon 1612 can make the difference for 3.1 setup...
