Is EA's Origin safe? - Page 2

I'm not worry. I have nothing under "My Documents" or any other default directory except game files. All my work files are all offloaded on another drive and locked.

Is Origin safe? Probably, it does scan through your hard drive and locate EA Games you have installed so it can throw it in your library. No idea if it scans for other things though.

Where is the option to opt out of the data collection on Steam? I can't seem to find it.

meh origin is just as bad as steam so might as well use both tongue.gif

Origin is fine, sucks that you're forced to use it to play certain games, but it aint no big deal.

never saw the reason for all the complaining, as long as it works and I can play my game, good on em'

Is Origin in it's current form safe to use or should I stay away?

Is there a way to play your games without connecting to Origin? Legitimately, I mean.

Origin is only another way to fight against piracy.
As we all know almoust every gamer owns copy of bf3 so you must need Origin.
The thing is that ilegal downloaded games from EA wont be able to play cuz it will auto start origin and will stop game from passing main menu screen.

My country 80% of gamers use only ilegal downloaded games.Only bought games is counter strike 1.6 and CSS.
Even my country have chance to buy russian version of orginal game wich is in English langue for 1/3 of english version game price.

A quick search of this in the EULA shows... nothing. It doesn't say this whatsoever.

Frick if you really want to know how dangerous Origin is, read the EULA. It does the exact same thing Steam does (Essentially what hardware you have and what OS you're using and crap. Essentially no personal data is stored)

My experiences with it are just fine, and I've been using it since BF3 came out.

EDIT: A quick tid bit at a section of the EULA regarding personal information...

Information about our customers is an important part of our business, and EA would never sell your personally identifiable information to anyone, nor would it ever use spyware or install spyware on users’ machines. The non-personally identifiable information that EA collects includes technical and related information that identifies your computer (including the Internet Protocol Address) and operating system, as well as information about your Application usage (including but not limited to successful installation and/or removal), software, software usage and peripheral hardware. 1 good thing whit Norway is that The internett providers guard their customurs info as it was thier only gold. biggrin.gif Its actuallly taken a bit far if you ask me, even if you have done something criminal, they will not give info to the state, police etc.

1 guy in histroy, Norwegian, has been caught downloading torrent from site like priatebay etc so internet in norway is almost whithout law biggrin.gif

I gues you all know the name Anders Bering Breivk? The police wanted to see what mails, trafic etc he has done on internett, but his internettprovider refuses. This is a guy who killed 87 young people, blowed the building where our gouverment has base to the sky. And telenor doesnt want to give out info.... Makes me alittle sick, but it also make me trust my internet provider, so who cares if steam and origin gather data, i dont think they will be able to use it to anything "usefull" in Norway
