Just to mention, I flashed my Gigabyte Windforce 7950 with the Gigabyte 7970 reference bios (1000MHz core/1375MHz memory) over at techpowerup.com:
http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/index.php?page=1&architecture=ATI&manufacturer=&model=HD+7970&interface=PCI-E&memSize=3072
and it's running rock solid stable.
I know this is a tepid overclock compared to what the card is capable of, but I don't know of any tools for modding Southern Islands bioses yet. Just wanted to let anybody with the Gigabyte card know that it worked perfectly, gives a nice little boost up from the 900MHz core speed the Gigabyte 7950 ships with, and you don't need any O/C'ing software. The Gigabyte Windforce 7950s also come with a dual bios switch in case you're squeemish about flashing the card. I also tried the VTX3D bios (1050MHz core/1425MHz memory) and although it seemed to run fine, it did seem to hiccup a little bit from time to time. I suspect it was either the voltage was not quite high enough for the ram overclock, or my memory just won't got that high completely comfortably. The MSI 7970 bios f@cked up the display (funny characters in command prompt when you first turn it on) so I re-flashed back to the Gigabyte 7970 bios. I'm about to try the XFX 7970 bios, as it is also running at 1GHz core, but with the 1425MHz memory of the VTX3D bios, just to see if it's my memory that doesn't like 1425MHz at reasonable voltage.
On a side note, the Gigabyte Windforce seem like a great value, as they're aggressively priced and they have a very good cooler/fans. It also seems to run very quietly, even under load. It may be the best value in a 7950.
