HD7950 revised with reference HD7970 PCB club - Page 60

isn't the 7950 vapor x supposed to have a good quality?
I see people with below 60% ASIC quality, by the way how do i know if its 7970 pcb? and how can i check the ASIC quality?

Thanks

Looks like 6+6 power connecter with Bussman chokes... CAn't see much more from the PCB but it looks like it may be a reference PCB design which may work out for water cooling. Some people are reporting nice over clocks with low voltage.

May be a good card. I definitely would consider it.

If you want to water cool there are other cards out based on HD7970 v2 PCB design which have water block compatibility but right now I wouldn't buy them. Seriously I would take a shot with the new sapphire. Looks like it has potential.

Good luck.

No planning for WC, just want a solid overclocker with a non-reference cooler, and without coil-whine... does it even exist? tongue.gif

Ad nauseam - NO!
all 7970 GHZ ed. and new 7950 Boost come with stock 1.25V and therefore have a reported asic score ~60%.

If you get lucky you can find one but expect noise from fan and some people complain of coil whine. I noticed a little coil whine on my Sapphire 950mhz Ediiton HD7950 for a period of time but it went away. Maybe the coil whine goes away after awhile.

Im on a Gigabyte 7950 WF3 rev 2 delivered with FX1 bios and 6+8 pins. It has the 1002-679A device ID. Been reading this thread back and forth but cant really understand which bios i should try since you guys say the PCB is some custom PCB since its blue. Should i try the Sapper bios u reffered to or the bios in the start of thread? Help would be very apprechiated!

So whats realy all the hype about theses cards, I have looked at all of them and all except the vapor x have 6 pin connectors.
The vapor x has 1- 6 and 1- 8 pin, I,m asking cuz I,m in the process of buying new 7950 cards. And new egg has 2 that look identical except price, with different numbers though, and amazon has one that looks the same but again different numbers. All look like they have black pcb,s.

Well not to burst any bubbles, but according to the sapphire tech I just spoke with,
on the phone, he said there is nothing special about the pcb,s just a change of color.
And are just the last ATI/AMD had. And there are NON with 8 pin connectors only 6.

But why so many different cerial numbers are out there he had no answer, except there must be something
different about the newly released cards. And that one would have to send an email in to them with the number to get an answer.
The only other thing was he said the ones with -4 at the end they did oc the voltage. But can not say about the others.
Also he claimed the vapor x should have unlocked voltage.

Found some bioses from HIS that seems to have same device ID as my PCB but is there any way to check information about a rom file to see what device ID its for? Tried every tool i could find but nothing works, seems to be outdated etc.
