And honestly.. BF3 is not bad. You're either nostalgic or just on the BF3 hate bandwagon. Yea, dolphin diving and jets dominating maps were fun in BF2... not. People remember the good parts of the past but never the bad ones.

Also, did you forget BF2142 released ONE YEAR after BF2? Or do you have selective memory? Last I checked BF2142 wasn't rushed and was a great game.

This.

However, we had the exact same reaction in 2006 when 2142 launched a year after BF2.

People were crying that BF2 wasn't "fixed" yet.

People were calling both games "payed betas".

People were calling 2142 a "BF2 mod".

People were doing the "rip Battlefield" rubbish.

EA are this that blah blah etc etc.

Yet all it took was 6-7 years of rose tinted "back in my day" pyro goggles and 2142 is one of the best BF games ever rolleyes.gif (I'd agree, but I was never one of the whiners)

Long story short.

Battlefield games always release buggy.

There are always expansions.

Many people always whine.

The whining always gets boring after a while.

Many (more than ever before in this case) always buy/play the games and love it, despite people heralding the end of the world.

The cycle is simply continuing, but many seem unaware that the cycle even exists.

This is why I do not take people's whining seriously I have seen the same exact whiny complaints when it came to bf2 and 2142 and even bf1942 and bf vietnam.

There are probably masses of people happy with North Korea but that doesn't make it a good place to live.

What sucks about BF3 are the map sizes, lack of accessible multi-level buildings, simplicity of flying & rearming air, AAA's placement and lack of SA missiles, and of course the retarded suppression. Even the "large" maps are so damn small you can fly across them in a few seconds in a jet. Most of the outlying areas on the map are very minimal with 2D flora and low resolution. Go play Arma 2 and then tell me bf3's maps are big.

I'll be interested to try some Armored Kill maps when it comes out, but CQ murdered my impression of the game. If I wanted to play a game like that I'd do some coke and buy MW

I just wish they could focus supremely on the PC for the BF series, instead of the crappy console counterpart.

I just wish they could focus supremely on the PC for the BF series, instead of the crappy console counterpart.

What is the point of comparing Arma to BF3? I could say "go play Planetside and then tell me Arma maps are big", but who cares? They are different games with completely different game play. Many people who like even the older Battlefields wouldn't like the uber slow pace of Arma, regardless of map size.

And you could have all those problems with the game, but that doesn't mean its a bad game. It just means you have an opinion on those things. Your opinion doesn't mean BF3 sucks.

The fact that you literally got upset at the game because they released a map pack that wasn't catered to you specifically (even while knowing one made for you is coming soon) only highlights your seeming inability to realise that there are others out there who may not want/like the same things you do.

Never said I was upset, literally or figuratively. The initial release of BF3 play up it's map sizes, but they are not that large by today's standards, never compared style of gameplay. I'm fine with having some expansion content that is not particularly my style. The let-down is that they are not catering to the type of players that has made BF popular over the years.

I have never been upset at the game, more the leash that EA holds on DICE

Plus, What exactly does make a bad game?

I really don't understand people's views on many things. BF3 out of the box was worlds less bugged than BF2 ever was, even after YEARS of patch-work. Only a few bugs that were in BF3 were tremendously game-breaking, such as going underground.

Sorry, I took "murdered my impression of the game" to mean something negative. My bad wink.gif

Again, you cant be "fine" with the expansion content if it apparently murdered your impression of the game, while also complaining that its a let down because its not catering to what you like, even though there is a pack on the way that does.

That simply means you expect all content to cater to yourself and that anyone else who has a different preference doesn't matter. You are literally feeling let down that DICE made a map pack that doesn't contain what you want specifically.

Amazing what a few years and nostalgia can do.

Check this "2142 sucks" thread from 2006

The "its a step back in gameplay".

The "its a mod/reskin".

The "I payed 50 bucks for a mod".

The "They're releasing Battlefield games ever year".

Its all there.

This one from 2006 even has some "EA/Battlefield sux" in it.

Here's another classic whinefest article. You could replace almost every instance of "BF2142" with "BF3" and you'd never know the difference.

All the whining that you hear now. It happened back then, except now, BF2142 is like the holy grail of Battlefield and everyone wants a 2143 sequel lol!
