Thanks! So here is the plan, pick up the MSI 7950 as soon as it comes back in stock and then wait for Haswell. How long should I expect to wait for haswell and how much better will it be than sandy/ivy?

Haswell is slated for a late Q1 2013 or early Q2 2013 release.

Avoid the XFX HD 7950 DD. the DD cooler is not good if you are overclocking. Your best option other than the MSI HD 7950 OC are

Sapphire HD 7950 950 Mhz edition - USD 350
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102991

Gigabyte HD 7950 Windforce (900 Mhz) - USD 350
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125414
http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Mini-Displayport-PCI-Express-Graphic-GV-R795WF3-3GD/dp/B007581QHG/

The Sapphire uses a HD 7970 PCB and is the fastest HD 7950 out of the box. Gigabyte has the edge with a 3 yr warranty compared to Sapphire's 2 yr warranty. Alternatively you could wait for the MSI HD 7950 OC to come back in stock. just click on auto notify so that you can grab one when it comes back into stock.

So i finally pulled the trigger on a EVGA GTX 670 with 8% off and free Borderlands 2
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130782
I know the 7950 offers similiar performance performace for less but after having to rma my 5850 twice and numerous ati driver issues I decided to give Nvidia a try. I really wanted EVGA due to their customer support reputation. Unfortuntely the FTW edition was out of stock and i was afraid the Borderlands 2 deal would end... How does the EVGA GTX 670 overclock?
It can be overclocked, just not to extremes. That's what the FTW is more for since core clock and boost clock are a lot higher too. I don't know how much you want to overclock but it should perform great.

No heavy OCing. I was thinking that because it uses the same cooler as the Superclocked Version I should be able to exceed or even match those clocks...of course this all depends on whether or not my OCed x4 955 bottlenecks it at stock. Not much point in OCing it then... Are the blower style coolers significantly louder/hotter than dual fan coolers? I would have gone with the Gigabyte Windforce but I had to RMA my Gigabyte 5850 twice because they sent back the same card. Thanks for your help!

You will lose about 20-30% of the fps or more.

The Windforce is a good card just lower clocks. Its one of the largest too but its thinner. The fans on the ftw will be louder, but the exhaust is blown out the case not around other components.
