Can you go wrong with...

Thread Starter 
with a Ducky Shine White LED keyboard with MX blacks? i cant choose between the black or the blue, but praise the lord my friend has a blackwidow coming soon, so i kinda have to chance to try it. btw, should i go with a new ducky shine or a used G19 with sticky G keys, but for $70 from a friend? ducky is double the price, and tbh i want to spare some money for my audio card budget. xonar phoebus isnt cheap you know biggrin.gif also kinda off topic, but is it possible to change the led of the mamba 2011 internally? afaik its only blue but changing a led shouldnt be hard

I had an Xarmor U9BL with Cherry MX blues and I found it obnoxious. I used it as long as I could since I spent so much money on it. I was hoping I would get used to it and in time I kinda did, but no one else in the house did so I had to retire it. I could hear it over my over ear headphones if thats any indication.

I have used my buddy's steelseries 64225 Black with CHerry MX blacks. His felt way smoother and better for gaming. to me MX blacks are the perfect combination of the smoothness of the normal dome KB and a nice solid mechanical KB.

I don't like black switches I find them to be "ok" for gaming and terrible for typing. I find them to be overall quite boring. It's just a matter of opinion. I had a Xarmor LED blue switch board and it was alright. I didn't like the click for movement in games, like when using the WASD or Arrow keys for moving your characters. Other than that the click was "ok" but was more annoying during late night hours that daytime hours. Overall, I would still take a blue switch board over a black switch board. I wouldn't ever use a G19, you probably won't find many mechanical keyboard people who will agree that you should take the G19. Good luck!

I'd recommend a D1 or a DX instead of a phoebus, unless you really really dig the ROG look.

i was thinking of the sound card, and i decided that buying a audioengine A5+ and using onboard audio is a better choice than a low end speaker paired with a high end sound card. i am kinda a audiophile, so it IS important.

You can get a used ducky for around $70ish, or you can pick up a brand new ducky xm with green alp(same as blues) here

the D1 is a solid card and lacks the pci to pci express adapter (this is a good thing).

I can't recommend the cheap duckys. That switch is not great. I like Brown myself, but have switched to red. Try a red if you can.
The shine II is out soon, that should lower the price of the one and put more used ones out too.

Well, I guess I might have been wrong. When I tested the cheaper Duckys at the store both I and the store guy thought they were ML switches. But to answer the question, they don't feel that good. You can feel the cheapness. I would rather get an iRocks with scissor switches at about the same price. But that is more personal feeling I guess.

If you can, try them out, you may like them.
