I have recently purchased an Asrock x79 Extreme 4-M motherboard, the intel i7-3820 and a Noctua NH-D14 cooler to go with it.
It took me a while to configure everything and get all the drivers to work properly, but i immediately noticed problems with the CPU when running Tribes Ascend for the 1st time. The game would be running at about 10fps, which is extremely low. I shut the game down and proceeded to run a 3DMark11 test to confirm my suspicions. Games ran pretty normally after then, but the chip is still under preforming by a lot. Any help towards solving this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Here are the results to the test:
Once a solution to the above problem would be found, I'd still require a lot of help with overclocking this CPU. As this mobo has an entirely different bios than the old ones, i haven't got the 1st clue as to how to get high overclocks.
Additional info:
The CPU temps run at 40°C idle and 68°C under load when OCed to 4.6Ghz, so i don't think that is the problem.
The bios is flashed to the latest version. I haven't messed around with the voltage of the chip yet.
My specs are as follows:
Thanks in advance for any help

Here are the results to the test:
- The benchmark score at stock CPU speeds. The score is almost 1000 lower than what i have seen other users have on their stock speeds for the 3820
http://3dmark.com/3dm11/3882042 - The benchmark score at a 4.6Ghz overclock. The score is STILL lover than normal stock speeds, despite the nearly 1Ghz OC.
