Problem with CPU after resetting CMOS.

Specs:
i7 2600K @ 4.8GHz
EVGA GTX 570
ASUS Maximus IV Extreme P67 (BIOS 3208)
16GB Mushkin Enhanced Redline @ 1600MHz (stock timings)
2x OCZ Vertex 4 128GB (one for OS, one for games)
WD Caviar Black 1TB 7200RPM (mass storage)
Corsair AX1200
Corsair H100
Corsair 800D

Okay so I cleared the CMOS with the CMOS button on the back and it reset everything back to default.

I put back my RAM timings, and voltage along with setting it back to 1600MHz.

Fixed the SATA config and boot options, and that's all I did.... everything else is still default.

I booted up, loaded CPUID to find out my CPU is running at 1.48v STOCK!?!?!? Speedstep is enabled, but it still stays at 3800GHz and will not drop down.

What in the world is causing this now? The CPU voltage is Auto, so why is it at 1.48v? I didn't even have it that high with my overclock.

Before I booted up the first time after resetting CMOS, the voltage was running at 1.14-1.16ish under voltage monitor so I don't know what went wrong.

This is my first PC build. I had to reset CMOS because i've been having a problem where I would boot my PC, it would then shut down about 6-7 secs into the boot, restart itself then freeze at Windows logo screen ("Loading Windows" screen). I'd then have to hold the reset button until it shut back down again, i'd press the power button to boot back up and it would be fine.

Of course, with my luck resetting the CMOS caused yet another problem for me. sadsmiley.gif

Try taking the battery out for 30- 1 minute and put back in.

Could the high CPU voltage be caused by setting my RAM to what it's rated for? (7-9-8-24 1600MHz @ 1.65v)

I'm afraid to keep resetting the CMOS, but I really need to figure this out.

I can't seem to find any battery, but I see the CMOS jumper on the board.

The motherboard battery looks like a watch battery, round and silver.

Well, I reset the CMOS again, fixed boot and set RAM timings and whatnot and the voltage dropped to about 1.25.

Now i'm having another problem... I have Turbo Mode enabled and on Auto in the BIOS but the multi wont go over x35 and the BCLK is at 100.3 for some reason and not 100.0?

Here is a picture, does anyone know what would cause this? I always had BCLK at auto, even before the CMOS reset and it always stayed at 100.0.

EDIT: The target CPU speed in the BIOS is 3800GHz currently, so why is it only running at 3500?

450

Maybe disable turbo mode?
