Anyone else own the Steelseries 7G?

I purchased it because I thought the wrist support looked very sturdy and such.

When I got it, I noticed it was huge and such, and even though it "slipped" on over the whole keyboard; it did NOT actually attach or snap on to anything which was disappointing because it MOVED whenever I had my left hand on one end of the support while typing. they were micro-movements but still ANNOYING!!

So I've been using it without support and it still feels fine honestly, still better than my meka G1 since this one is heavier and doesn't move and is at a lower-incline so it doesn't strain as bad...

anyone else verify this or dissapointed that they could not make a sturdier/better-built palm rest for a 180$ keyboard???

I was really turned off by the massive wrist rest so I just went with the 6GV2, pretty much the same thing, just without the fancy ports.
I actually like the MX Blacks, nice springy feel when releasing a key. Looking to buy a Filco with blues next, though.

You really paid 180$ for that? :X Could have had much better for the same price.

I have one that I no longer use (using a DAS) and yes i was disappointed at the wrist rest too, but I enjoyed it. Where did you get it for $180 ? please don't say from SS website + shipping + taxes

Well instead of commenting on the price, I rather have you guys share your epxerience with the keyboard...nevermind..

Well, to be specific I actually paid 120$ because it was open box so I got a good deal on it.

I actually purchased it FOR THE BIG WRIST REST because the attachment "looked" solid and better than all the keyboards (mechanical) I have tried which ALL had FLIMSY WRIST REST.

My other option was the K90 from Corsair or blackwidow from Razer and the K90 has thumbscrews on its palm rest for extra stability..

...so needless to say I was dissapointed when I saw how weird the wrist rest was for the 7G in person and how it ONLY overlapped the board but did not actually "attach" thus being another flimsy, dissapointed made of plastic.

the actual keyboard is very solid and heavy though, so I 've been using it without the wrist rest and it still feels better than my THermaltake Meka g1 due to its lower incline.

Hey Alberto, I'd be willing to by the wrist rest off of you if you don't want it anymore, PM me or whatever if you're interested.

This was my first mechanical kb. I actually liked that wrist rest. Yeah it moved a little but wasn't causing me any problems. My current kb, Ducky Shine is a lot worse because the Ducky wrist rest is moving all over the place when I'm gaming hard.

I really hated 7G's spacebar tho, it felt hard to press and mushy almost like a rubber dome. In fact my old G110 had a better spacebar.

Your Meka g1 should actually be a better kb because it has costar stabilisers. Its the same kb as WASD as far as I know. I ordered a semi-custom one few days ago biggrin.gif
