Ubuntu 12.xx help with launching services and software

Hi guys,

this is going to be the stupidest question ever, but I can't help it. Please remember that I am a total and complete n00b with ubuntu, hence the following biggrin.gif

I installed Ubuntu 12.04 in virtualbox. I then installed fahclient v7 (a service) and fahcontrol (a program) through the software center (folding@home client and control panel). I download the deb files from folding at home servers. Apparently the 2 softwares are installed (it says so in the software center)

Here comes, and don't mock me lol: How the heck do I launch installed software? It says that I should use the terminal, now I know how to open one of those but then what? Can i create a desktop icon ala windows for the both of them?

Man, I am ashamed to ask such a stupid question but I've been at it for like a week and I just can't figure this OS out ....

Crawling silently back to win7 ninja.gif

Thanks for any help.

PS: I posted the question here instead of the folding forum, it seemed more appropriate for you, ubuntu gurus wink.gif

Ask in the F@H forum. It has a bit more to do with them then it does Linux. And I would say the majority of regulars here aren't big time folders as much as they are Linux goers.
